Mohammed Al Qassab is a self-taught artist who first took interest in art at the age of 17, and more recently completed an art residency at the Lepsien Art Foundation. He served on the Board of Directors of the Emirates Fine Arts Society in Sharjah, and founded its outreach program. He has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions worldwide, highlights of which include The National Pavilion of the UAE at the Venice Biennial (2015); Past Forward: Contemporary Art from the Emirates (Tour 2014-2016); Museum of Art, Past Forward (Kanazawa, Japan, 2010); Rathaiyyat [Elegies] (Sharjah, 2004); several Sharjah Biennials (1993, 1995, 1997); the International Cairo Biennial (1992, 1995); and The Exhibition of Arab Artists (Kuwait, 1983-1985). He was awarded the gold prize at the first GCC Fine Arts Exhibition (1989) and at the Silver Jubilee of the GCC Art Exhibition (Muscat, Oman, 2013). His works can be seen in the collections of Abu Dhabi’s Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, the Barjeel Art Foundation, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Sharjah Museum of Art.
In 2018, the artist participated in Artists and the Cultural Foundation: The Early Years, Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation.
