Salma Al Marri
Emirati, b. 1962, Ras Al Khaimah
Salma Al Marri obtained her BA in Fine Arts (painting) from Cairo University in Egypt in 1985. Her practice developed over the years since, during which she also worked in the Ministry of Education as a Senior Director of Arts (2002-2006). A member of both the Emirates Fine Arts and Arab Arts societies, her paintings have been exhibited across the UAE and abroad, including in Iran, Tunisia, Japan, New York and Kuwait. In 2013 she was awarded the Grand Prize for Arab Contemporary Art at the Al-Kharafi Biennial (Kuwait, 2012).
In 2018, the artist participated in Artists and the Cultural Foundation: The Early Years, Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation.
