The 2023 edition of Umsiyat will be a special edition, as it will try to reflect the spirit of Abu Dhabi as a UNESCO Creative City of Music. Over the past few years, the Umsiyat concert series has become an institution in Abu Dhabi, presenting leading artists and groups such as Trio Joubran, Lotfi Bouchnak and many more. It offers a high-level cross-cultural musical programme delivering a message of peace and tolerance.
For 2023, the programme will include concerts at different locations in Abu Dhabi (the Cultural Foundation Auditorium and Amphitheatre, giving the public an insight into the different religions that constitute the diverse city of Abu Dhabi. The concerts will feature music related to Islam, Christianity and Buddhism and be open to everyone interested. Their aim is to establish a true understanding between cultures and to introduce audiences to the different expressions of faith through music.
The highlight concert of the 2023 edition will feature Chinese star musician Frang Jinlong, who ranks today among the most popular Asian traditional artists. Through his numerous appearances in prestigious concert halls and with other leading classical music stars such as Lang Lang, Fang Jinlong has proven during his long career able to preserve the Chinese musical heritage and at the same time transport it into the modern Era, opening it to a new public and to international fame.
