Chamber Music Evening: The Art of the Violin
For his second appearance in the UAE, after his stunning success with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in November 2023, rising violin star Timothy Chooi has chosen a programme with some of the favorite pieces for violin virtuosi, making his concert a real tour de force of violin art. Featuring Spanish composer’s Pablo de Sarasate’s thundering Zigeunerweisen (Gipsy music) and French composer’s Jules Massenet fascinating Méditation from the opera Thaïs, the programme mixes some of the most popular works of the classical music repertoire with true discoveries such as Chinese composer’s Chen Gang violin solo Sunshine over Tashkurgan, which was actually conceived as a 20th century pendant of Sarasate’s 19th century composition.
Timothy Chooi will be joined for this very special evening celebrating the art of the violin by young Korean pianist Changyong Shin, a multiple international competition winner.
