Orchestral music involves many instrumental parts blending together
Each of the different instruments and their families have different roles to perform in order to play music written for orchestras. Orchestral music will typically have a main melody or tune, usually played by the strings or woodwind instruments. Other instrumental families add ‘harmonies’ to the central ‘melody’. Percussion instruments are usually in charge of the rhythm.
