A celebration of the artisans and craftsmanship behind some of the most cherished Emirati handicrafts
The National Traditional Handicrafts Festival is an annual event that gives visitors a closer look at long-practiced Emirati handicrafts through demonstrations, competitions and hands-on workshops.The festival programme not only highlights the craftsmanship of artisans, but also promotes the learning and passing-on of traditional techniques, and gives visitors an opportunity to try some of these crafts.Visitor can attempt traditional rope making, among others activities, and watch presentations on other crafts, including traditional pottery and weaving.The festival was inaugurated in 2014 at the Souq Al Qattara market for traditional handicrafts in Al Ain.Also part of the festival programme are a number of open competitions in events such as Arabic coffee making, traditional Emirati food cooking and traditional Emirati performances.

Did You Know?

The Traditional Market at the festival offers authentic Emirati clothes, perfume, incense, spices, jewelry, henna, sweets and food.
