Emirati Play
Written and Directed by:
Marei Al Halyan
This play tells the story of a musical band invited to participate in an international forum and perform before a global audience. Shortly before the concert, a state of emergency is declared, leading to the cancellation of the event.
The band faces disappointment, but the members begin to use singing as a way to express themselves and share their thoughts and emotions. The performance blends storytelling with live singing, offering a close look at the relationships among the band members, how they cope with change and setbacks, and how they transform art into a means of communication and reflection.
Samra: A term used to describe a form of collective singing in the Gulf region, traditionally performed in evening gatherings known for their musical, spontaneous, and improvisational spirit.
