The ‘Native’ exhibition explores the life conditions of each plant indigenous to the UAE’s landscape, examining the surrounding atmosphere that influences its growth and gives it unique variations in colour, texture, size, and behaviour. From the iconic Ghaf tree to the resilient desert grasses, each specimen tells a story of adaptation and survival. The exhibition features a curated collection of art installations and informative exhibits that highlight the ecological significance of these plants and trees.
Native: Plants in the UAE promises an enriching experience that will resonate with nature enthusiasts, artists, and all those curious about the extraordinary green world of the UAE. It’s a journey of discovery into life that thrives beneath the desert sun.
The exhibition was held at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi in 2024, and is being held at the Al Qattara Arts Centre, Al Ain in 2025. The exhibition is curated by Sumayya Al Suwaidi, with assistance from curators Aysha Al Aseeri and Huda Marzooq.
