The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi is organising the 'My Old House' public programme, which takes participants on a tour around some of the most prominent historic sites and areas in Al Ain.
The programme includes visits to a number of towers and old houses in Hili Oasis, including Seebat (tower) Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Seebat Khalifa bin Nahya Al Darmaki, Jumaa bin Rahma Al Darmaki’s fort and mosque, Al Hili Oasis’ Sharia (water spring), Bin Maktoum’s room, Hamad bin Hadi Al Darmaki’s house and Bin Rayeh Al Darmaki’s tower. Participants will learn about the Falaj irrigation system at one of the farms, and about some of the important customs that used to be observed when receiving guests. They will also attend a performance representing the education system in the past, which involved the Al Mutawa (teacher) and Al Katateeb (students).
Fees: AED 30 for adults, AED 10 for children
