Overview

Emirati singer Aryam will perform as part of the Memory of Emirati Songs programme at Al Qattara Arts Centre, coinciding with the National Handicrafts Festival, which will take place between November 1-17, 2018. In Aryam’s first appearance in Memory of Emirati Songs, she will perform a selection of her own songs as well as traditional Emirati songs.

Aryam began singing as a hobby, but her singing career took off at Dar Al Hayy and the City of Love Dubai, when she competed in the Amateur and Talent contest at the 1995-1996 Dubai Shopping Festival under prominent producer Simon Al Asmar. A turning point was when she sang for the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’ lyrics from ‘Ya Mi’zil’ in what became her breakthrough performance. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was also the one to give her the name ‘Aryam’. Aryam was the first artist to sing lyrics written by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

She went on to put almost all of his writings into songs. Some of these songs were singles, while others were included in her albums. Aryam has produced over ten albums, alongside singles and other productions, in collaboration with renowned poets and composers. Aryam has participated in numerous festivals outside the United Arab Emirates, including countless festivals around the Gulf region, such as the Salalah and Muscat festivals in Oman. These had a significant impact on driving her artistic career and building her broad fan base.

She has also participated in concerts and events in Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, where she was the star attraction. She has also performed further afield in Poland and New York. In the UAE, Ayram has performed in several official events and celebrations, such as the National Day, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha celebrations, as well as concerts for the Ministry of Education and at a number of events organised by other governmental institutions. Aryam has also participated in festivals in the UAE, such as Al Hilli Festival in Al Ain, the Suihan Festival and the Dubai Shopping Festival through Dubai Nights events, which takes place on the side lines of the shopping festival. Aryam was recently selected as Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Peace and Relief Organisation.
