A Thousand and One Nights is a musical ballet trilogy with the first act performed to the acclaimed music of Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. It unveils a mysterious eastern world in the majestic and dramatic court of the king Shahryar, where passion, love and revenge reverberate through palace nights. The second act opens at the “bazaar of extraordinary tales” from the sands of time, as told in A Thousand and One Nights. The oriental souk, vibrant in its sounds and colors, comes to life amid the racket of merchants eager to sell their goods.
The final part of the performance is a return to Arabic heritage and tradition, with a journey to the days of the caravanserai, a unique place for encounters in which travelers from all walks of life rested after their long journeys.
