Home Cultural Resources and Policies Gahwa Experience Operating Permit

Rooted in the UAE’s intangible heritage and recognised by UNESCO, the practice of preparing and serving Gahwa is at the heart of Emirati hospitality.

With the Gahwa Experience Operating Permit Initiative, DCT Abu Dhabi is offering a dedicated system for venues that is designed to guide and certify hotels, cultural destinations, airports, government spaces, and event organisers to bring this tradition to life for both local visitors and tourists, ensuring the experience remains true to its cultural essence.

Certified partners will be authorised to operate the Bait Al Gahwa interactive experience at their venues, reinforcing the unique advantage and prestige of participating in this programme. This initiative ensures that participating venues uphold the highest cultural standards, while being unique within the tourism and hospitality sectors by offering a unique, value-rich guest experience.

Certified operators will receive access to content and guidance from DCT Abu Dhabi, including operating guidelines, storytelling materials and marketing support. Operators must also complete mandatory training to acquire certification in Gahwa making and serving through the Bait Al Gahwa Academy, where Gahwa Makers and Hosts learn the precise methods and etiquette behind traditional Gahwa preparation and serving.

Interested partners should submit their request through the Bait Al Gahwa online platform.

Following submission, applicants will undergo a review within two working days, after which successful venues will begin an onboarding journey with the DCT Abu Dhabi team. This includes operational planning and training, quality checks, and brand alignment.
