The Game Of Al Karabi

Home Cultural Heritage Heritage Register The Game Of Al Karabi

This game is played in a spacious court with two straight parallel lines, four to five meters apart. The girls line up on one of the two lines facing the other line. One of the girls stands on one leg and bends the other leg back and holds it with her hand. She then starts hopping towards the other line chanting: "I play Al Karabi and say, I say Sheikah” The rest of the girls play the role of the opponent and try to block the way of the player who is hopping. If the hopping girl manages to pass and get to the other line and return to the start point without falling then she scores a point and if not, she is eliminated. Then, another girl tries to stop the hopping girl. If she fails, then she too is eliminated and a third player takes her place, then a fourth and so on. However, if the other girls are unable to stop the player, then she will be the winner.
