Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the eight annual traditional Handicrafts Festival returns to Souq Al Qattara in Al Ain. The festival attracts practitioners and enthusiasts of handicrafts and traditional industries from all over the UAE with the aim of promoting and preserving traditional Emirati handicrafts and developing them as a source of income.
The festival invites visitors to experience the making of traditional crafts by local experts, showcasing their significance as important expressions of the heritage, customs and traditions of the UAE. The event promotes craftsmen's efforts to preserve these invaluable aspects of our intangible heritage, ensure their continuity and pass skills on to younger generations.
The Traditional Handicrafts Festival will also feature musical performances, including concerts from Bait Al Oud, and Sounds of the UAE and as well as an educational cultural programme of workshops and other interactive events for families, like Al Suwayea prorgamme, organized at Al Qattara Arts Centre.
