Under the theme of ‘Cultural Industries and Heritage: A Future Vision’, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) will host the 10th edition of the GCC Heritage and Oral History Conference on 5 October, with the virtual event live-streamed on the Abu Dhabi Culture YouTube channel.
As part of the Conference's 10th edition, several topics will be explored, including the concept of cultural industries and the state of this sector, its impact on sustainable development and the experts’ view of the future of the industry. In addition, the experts will create a blueprint for the cultural industries to achieve their ambitions and long-term objectives.
The distinguished experts in attendance will include HE Dr. Sulaiman Al Jasim, researcher, journalist, academic and Deputy Chairman of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation and former director of Zayed University; Dr. Laila Al-Bassam, Board Member of the Heritage Commission at the Ministry of Culture in KSA; Dr. Hassan Ashkanani, General Supervisor of the Anthropology and Archaeology Museum and Laboratory at the Department of Sociology at Kuwait University; Dr. Amina Al-Hajri, UNICEF Expert and Director General of the Department of Cultural, Social and Family Affairs in the OIC and Assistant Professor at the College of Education in the Sultanate of Oman; Dr. Diaa Al Kaabi, Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies in the College of Arts at the University of Bahrain; Aisha Al Dhaheri, researcher in the Department of Intangible Heritage and supervisor of craftsmen and artisans in the Al Ain region; and Qamasha Al Muhairi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Register of Artisans.
