A Living Human Heritage
This activity guide, designed for people of all ages, offers an opportunity to discover falconry, one of the traditional practices of the United Arab Emirates.
Falconry has been a tradition in the region for hundreds of years and is an important element of UAE culture. Inscribing falconry on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage in 2010 has created bridges of dialogue between cultures and promoted the legacy established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in conserving falconry.
We encourage you to discuss and write in this activity guide whilst you learn about the history of falconry, its literature, falcon varieties, tools and training, and the falcon as a national symbol of the United Arab Emirates.
