Abdulrahman Zainal obtained his BA in Fine Arts (Interior Design) in 1979 from Helwan University, Cairo, as well as an MFA in Fine Arts from the Edinburgh College of Art in 1980. His works were exhibited in the annual Emirates Fine Arts Society exhibitions and numerous other exhibitions in the region, highlights of which include the 1980-Today: Exhibitions in the United Arab Emirates, UAE Pavilion, 56th Venice Biennial (2015); Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation (1992); Al Ahli Club Exhibition (Dubai, 1992); Lancaster Hotel Hyde Park (London, 1980); the Dubai National Exhibition (1973); as well as the Inaugural UAE Art Exhibition (1972). He was the recipient of the second prize for both Environment Day (1998) and Expressive Faces (1998) and he also received the Golden Dana Award, Kuwait (1998).
In 2018, the artist participated in Artists and the Cultural Foundation: The Early Years, Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation.
