The Department of Culture and Tourism—Abu Dhabi organized a heritage session on falconry for university students at Qasr Al-Hosn, to shed light on this intangible heritage element, preserve it and pass it on to future generations.
The session was led by the first Emirati falconer Aysha Al Mansouri, who shared her journey into falconry and how she has passed on her skills and passion for falconry onto her daughter.
During the session, the university students learned about the importance of falconry, its beginnings in Emirati culture, as well as gaining a strong insight into falcon care including advice on taming them.
The session was followed by an art workshop where attendees decorated falcon burqas (headcovers).
